NIKKI SIXX Helps Save Christmas For Children With Cancer
December 22, 2010On December 4, five video game systems were stolen from Carolinas Medical Center in North Carolina. Surveillance cameras captured footage of a man taking the systems, which are used by young patients undergoing cancer treatment.
When MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx heard what happened at the treatment center, he decided to do something about it. With the help of his syndicated radio show "Sixx Sense", Sixx — who was recently involved with the Pablove Foundation for a charity event to fund pediatric cancer research — reached out to Sony, Disney, Activision and Nintendo. As soon as those four companies learned what happened, they rushed to donate replacement consoles as well as games. EA Games and Microsoft also stepped in a big way as well by donating Xbox 360 consoles and games.
According to The Charlotte Observer, Charles Everett Hinton, 45, was arrested Friday afternoon (December 17) after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police issued warrants in the theft. Hinton was charged with burglary, larceny after burglary and damage to property, police said.
No patients were in the treatment center when the systems were stolen, police said.
